Gynecomastia Correction
Gynecomastia is the fact that the male chest has similar characteristics to the female breasts. This is often a source of psychological distress, lack of confidence, or even social disturbance. The condition frequently starts from puberty and is thought to be caused by the excess congenital development of the mammary glands, deposits of obesity-induced fats at the mammary gland (false gynecomastia or pseudogynecomastia), or stimulation of mammary development due to elevated prolactin levels from a cerebral central endocrine abnormality, which leads to milk secretion or breast swelling pain in severe cases and even causes breast laxity or droopiness if left uncorrected for a long time. Because gynecomastia is due to latent endocrine causes, the physician first excludes the probability of cerebral metabolism dysfunction or breast tumor before breast reduction to correct appearance problems. At present, there are two main surgeries to correct gynecomastia.
