I believe every one of us thinks that the round and bulging muscles on top of a little girl’s cheeks are very cute. When the little girl smiles, it resembles a red apple which makes our spirits feel young again. This reverse-triangular area below the eye socket and in front of the zygoma is typically referred to “apples of the cheeks” or “smile muscles”. Our facial contours develop laterally as we grow up. Besides, our facial skin will sag and droop from ageing, which results in the loss of tissues underneath the apples of the cheeks, and more seriously, this situation may lead to depressed cheeks.
