此手術雖然具有簡易，經濟且方便運用的優點，但莊醫師也提醒有下列情形的患者並不適合做釘書針縫雙眼皮手術：

• 先天眉壓眼或是眼皮過於厚重者
• 眼皮已產生明顯老化鬆弛或下垂問題者
• 先天大小眼或可能患有提眼肌無力問題者
• 眼球有急、慢性疾患，無法接受眼皮縫線的刺激者
• 重度近視、眼壓過高，或是眼睛過敏可能常會揉眼睛者
• 曾於三個月之內接受過眼科手術或近視手術矯正者
